Greetings Alumni,

(Anyone who ever attended school in the African American community of Lewisville, Arkansas)

It was thrilling for all of us to be together again in the place of our roots.  Most days we are so filled up with the cares of life that high school seems a lifetime ago.  But for a few days in July, we enjoyed old friends and remembered the carefree days of our youth- the glory days in Lewisville, Arkansas.

Our 2010 theme – “Remember Yesterday but Cherish Tomorrow” made us all reflect on  yesterdays.  We can  look at the quality of education we received in the never equal schools of yesterday and compare it to the quality of education children receive in fully integrated schools today and feel sad. We must embrace our children and grandchildren and instill in them the desire to learn.  We must return to the values of yesterday when education was a prize to be desired, when education was a privilege that parents demanded for their children.  When we regain those kinds of values, then the tomorrows of our children will be a blessed time for us to cherish.

We are already looking forward to the 2012 reunion.  We are constantly amazed each time we gather at the dedication, planning and hard work that the local committe puts into preparing for the reunions.  We salute the city of Lewisville, Arkansas- the city that has launched greatness.
